With rapid population growth in cities like Eagle Mountain and Saratoga Springs, the strain on existing infrastructure has become a pressing issue.
UDOT spokesperson John Gleason emphasizes the department's commitment to enhancing transportation options and improving key corridors. "We're focused on creating a better quality of life for residents by addressing the challenges posed by increased traffic," he explains.
One of the key strategies in UDOT's arsenal is the implementation of innovative intersection designs. Gleason highlights the recent introduction of a High T intersection at SR-73 and Eagle Mountain Boulevard, designed to enhance safety and efficiency during turning maneuvers. Additionally, UDOT has introduced 'flex lanes' on Pioneer Crossing, a move that increases capacity by an impressive 50%. These flex lanes adapt to traffic flow, allowing four lanes in one direction during peak times and reversing the flow in the opposite direction when needed.
